Wham and China

Due to George Michael's death news, we lost a great singer. Meanwhile some of his story was reviewed. His band Wham was the first foreign Band to visit and had the concert in China after 1949. Wham's manager had the negotiation with Chinese government for 18 months and then finally they became the first band to China rather than Queen. They had the concert in Beijing and my city Guangzhou in April 1985. But at that time I was too little to know it yet. Since it was the first time for them to visit China and they couldn't predict the responses from the audiences. They turned down the volume on purpose. The concert ticket was rather expensive at that time, it cost about $1.70 and therefore just some youngs were able to be there. Every audience had a cassette from Wham. Wham's concert had made a big difference to some Chinese singers. They were able to know more popular music and the foreign band performance.
