The reason why I don't do Christmas shopping too early

When I was young and never thought too much about death or dying, I used to do my Christmas shopping all through the year. By the time October rolled around I was all set, I could relax while others went crazy!
As I aged I got to thinking ..... what if the person I am buying this for isn't around by Christmas? I guess I mostly thought of my parents and them not being around. So I stopped buying gifts that early.
In my mind I felt like I might be jinxing people .... I didn't want to have that on my record LOL!
I know @infatuatedbby shops early since she already got a head start on next year's gift list! What about you - do you shop for Christmas throughout the year?'

My sister told me that we are going to set a goal to get all of our shopping done in October. I rolled my eyes at that, but am determined not to get so overwhelmed with gift shopping. Seems the older I get the more overwhelmed I get too.

@AbbyGreenhill I have 4 children. Two of them have children of their own that I buy or make gifts for. I always try to get my favorite sister something or bake her a yummy.

The older we get the less people we shop for - we moved away from family so that put an end to a huge part of what we used to buy.

We are the same, I tend to do my Christmas shopping all throughout the year. I'm finished as early as August or September. However, this year, I only gave cash and gift cards so I didn't do much Christmas shopping.

I only buy for my husband and the dog and since we buy what we want all year it makes it a little more difficult to find something for Christmas.

That's right - no worries about them. And we were so right to do it - I saw photos of their playroom on Christmas morning...more toys than will ever be appreciated.

I am so glad I am not alone in thinking that way. Those are my exact same thoughts and for that reason I can not shop early.

I do not shop throughout the year. I start in october and hopefully get done before december. This year i started late as i didn't not get a christmas list until late but atleast it was done and now it's all over with.

One year I shopped really early, but by the time Christmas got here I felt left out somehow. I try to start in November and I like shopping when it feels more like Christmas.

When I had more presents to buy and not a lot of spare money I would keep an eye open for gifts throughout the year. Now it's not a problem.

Another thing that stopped me - if I found something that would be perfect for my mother she would probably have bought one herself way before Christmas.
