I have been thinking about starting series of books written diary style? I have no idea where the idea came from, but just a couple of days ago, it occurred to me. Have you ever read a book using this style?? What did you like or dislike about it?? Update... while I was exercising, I suddenly thought of Anne Frank... how could I have forgotten about her diary??

I actually wrote a book in this style, handwritten until it was stolen. =( I was a senior in high school when I wrote it and everyone in my classes wanted to read it!

I've read a few books written in this way and enjoyed them. I'd go for it if I were you.

I think I've read one like that a long time ago. Or at least a story that consists of a character reading someone's diary from long ago, like a grandmother's. I like that as long as it's interesting.

Go for it, there are a few books out there that do that, they have a log of things. I think 13 reasons why is kind of like that expect it is a boy listening to tapes but they are written like a diary. I know there is another book that I loved but I cannot remember at all what it is called that is written like that. and also the autobiography if Nikki Sixx called The Heroine Diaries. It is a very relaxing form of writing, it is probably one of my favorites.

I like the idea of it - a couple of books I recently read used it in part. There was author narration -- and then they would refer to the character's diary. One book I can think of that used it was "Gone Girl". I don't know what I would think of the entire book was in diary format but ... worth a try What I liked about it - it filled in some plot points and questions in an interesting fashion, also told us about that character

What I like about it, it's personalized.
