Hot flashes in menopause can be a real bother for some women and hardly noticed by others. Although some women can experience these anytime during their menstrual cycles they usually occur during menopause in the mid to late 40's.
There is also such hot flashes that are suffered during pregnancy and brought on by hormonal changes. Here are some tips in helping to manage the menopausal hot flashes:
1. Be prepared. Hot flashes come on because of many causes from changes in room temperature to eating hot and/or spicy foods. Drinking caffeine can cause you face to turn red so you might want to stop drinking if it causes you to feel too heated. Its a good idea to dress in layers so you can remove a sweater or jacket if you begin to feel the warmth of one coming on.
2. A good network of friends and family can help give you connection with others who share the hot flashes. Many have ideas and things that work to relieve these hot flashes and can be of help to you.
3. The website suggests that 2 tablespoons of water with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in it daily can reduce hot symptoms. Or drink a cup of soy milk each day. Herbal mixtures can vary from one distributor to another and it is a good idea to be assured that they are FDA approved before using them. It is always a good idea to check with your doctor before starting in any natural cure that hasn't been supported by medical research.
4. Walking or swimming atleast three times a week can be of help also by increasing the production of endorphins, nurturing the hypothalamus, and limiting the amount of FSH and LH hormones circulating through the body.
5. You can treat hot flashes that occur during pregnancy the same as regular hot flashes. They occur only at certain stages of the pregnancy and usually are gone after the birth.
6. Avoid foods that may cause hot flashes such as alcoholic beverages, acidic foods like tomatoes and pickles, and such things as repressed anger and anxiety, saunas or hot tubs, and tobacco products.
7. Night sweats, or hot flashes that wake you at night, can be treated by sleeping in a cool room. Using a light blanket or with the top blanket removed can be of help. Cooling down your system by drinking a glass of water can help if you have them at night.

Each person is an individual and so one thing will work for one and maybe not another.
