You've Got A Friend

You've Got A Friend I think that it was at the end of the summer of 1971 that I first heard the song "You've Got A Friend" by James Taylor & Carole King. I had just moved to Toronto, Canada and I had made sure that I brought my record player with me. I immediately felt for that song. And I could listen to it over and over and somehow never got tired of listening. Of course, that is until the next song came to get me! Were you that way too when you were a young person?

I'm still that way. Some songs just hit me in the heart in the right way. James Taylor is still awesome and there is a hit on Broadway now about Carole King.

When I like a song I like to listen to it over and over until I like another song and than the cycle starts all over again.

Yes, the very first record I bought was Califotnia Girls by the Beach Boys and I must have played it a million times. Still love that song!

@marlina I loved the music of the sixties and the early seventies. Carole King wrote some great songs.

Some songs hit us much harder because of the timing. Stand Tall, by Dan Hill was on of those songs for me.

@marlina It was thin and lanky but he had the long hair thing going and believe or not, the chicks dug him in 1970.

Nice song. Funny how some music we listen to we never get tired of. Other music is like I can only listen to once in a blue moon because it gets old quick. lol

I think of songs that came out around my teenage years (our time of coming of age), and those songs are forever stuck inside my head, and even today, many decades later, I can sit and listen to them over and over for hours! In fact, for Christmas, my daughter bought me a record player and all my favorite records from back in the 80's. I have been listening to all of them over and over. I don't care what people say, I love the sound that records produce more than CD's or digital formats!
