What I've got up to today

United States
January 3, 2017 8:55pm CST
I got off work this morning at 5 am. Came home, ate and went to sleep. When I woke up, I went into the kitchen to get myself some more water (after the other waking up routines) and was asked if I wanted to go out to eat some mexican food. I said yes, but it was a little too early so we waited a bit. In the mean time I got my henna dye ready so that when I got back I could apply it to my hair. That's me in the picture with saran wrap on my head. Yup, because I didn't have a shower cap to put my hair in. Plus I think this secures it a bit more than a shower cap. The last time I did henna and used a shower cap I felt as if my hair was falling out of place more. I didn't use all of the henna though the pack suggested I do so. I felt as if it was covered enough, even if it doesn't cover the back side. I don't know, I didn't want to put too much in and have the feeling as if it was "crawling" on me like I did last time. So that's what I am up to so far. Once I get done with this (I'll be taking it off in another hour or so), I'll be doing my laundry and probably mylotting while watching some t.v. I've got fifeteen hours AGAIN this week and something has got to give!! I haven't even really worked with the manager in charge of scheduling so that I could talk to him. I need to so that I can find out what is up!!

I had a previous co worker tell me she did henna hair treatment and she said it takes several hours but its a healthier alternative. What color did you end up going with?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I hope your hair turns out to be the red you want! How many hours do you have to leave your the henna in for?

@infatuatedbby One is the bare minimum I think, but they recommend two or three. It's been about two and a half and I'm about to go wash it out.

I am hoping it will turn out red. This is just the natural henna with no color additive. A different company I am using also. The last henna I bought had something added to it so it turned out a dark but bright red. I am hoping this will turn out as natural as possible. I may end up having to bleach it the next time I try to do this, to get the desired effect.

My eyes are a greenish sort of hazel sometimes as well. I used the chemical stuff for awhile but want to try using henna for now. My grandmother used bleach (the clorox kind) once or twice and it stripped her hair.

It's hair dye and is something else. It smells really awful but once it's on your head it doesn't really smell. Atleast I don't smell it anyway. You take the powder they give you and mix it with apple cider vinegar. It says to mix with water but have talked to someone who does the henna stuff every time they need a touch up and it's what they use. It's all natural, so no chemicals. The only downside (besides having to mix it yourself) is that it stays on for two hours (at the very least) and it takes about ten minutes to rinse out.

@paigea It will be a few days. The color will be visible by tonight but it takes about 24 hours for it to set. I'll show a picture if I can remember to do so.

Hope you get the color your seeking. That is hard when your hours aren't what you expect and needing to earn elsewhere.

When I color my hair I use a grocery bag and tie it with a hair tie. Easily disposable!

Oh, 15 hours a week is not much at all, is it? Sorry to hear; I hope something can be done about that and you get more hours in... What color was the henna? I've done it in burgundy and I really liked it...

It was a reddish tint. It didn't fully coat my hair as I would have liked, but then again I didn't use the entire package either. I really need to be more prepared when I dye it in this fashion. I didn't have a smock or anything to cover myself so was hesitant to use the entire thing. Yes, I need to figure out why they are still only giving me 15 hours a week. I am beginning to take it as a personal affront and yet I can't even talk to the man in charge of our scheduling. He seems to never be there when I am, and I won't be going up there just to talk to him.
