OCE? Time For the Demolition Man!

Word art ethics

Was listening to a report on the radio and there was some blah blah blah about the “O.C.E.”. Caught a few sound bites as my mind wasn't really focused on the discussion. But the person being interviewed said something to the effect that evidently the management and staff of the O.C.E. did their jobs. Let me finish that sentence fragment … “did their jobs a little bit too good”. In other words, they accomplished their mission. I'm thinking to myself: 'What is O.C.E.?' Office of Congressional Ethics OK! Light bulb went off in my head. New Congress gets sworn in and they send the Demolition Man after the watchdogs. That's freaking hilarious. When one gets a new office there's always a little “redecorating” that's done. Guess they didn't like the word art associated with the word “ethics”. Get that out of the way. Next “To Do” on this list is getting rid of Obamacare. That's freaking hilarious. They yelled about “OC”, i.e. Obamacare, a lot! I don't remember any mention of the “OCE”. But the OCE was the first task at hand??? ???? ??????? ????????

I heard about that and they decided not to get rid of it. Now as far as Obamacare is concerned, we know something needs to be done about it. An average working person can't afford it.

@cmoneyspinner I can only hope that the new changes will benefit us and not make things worse.

Thank you for your comments my friend. May I ask: Why do people keep saying we need to wait to see what happens? Crap is already happening and it's not very encouraging. Why don't people say: Trump and Congress aren't waiting … why should “We the People” wait? Wait for what? Wait to wake up one morning and find out the country is now under the control of demi-gods who don't want their ethics, motives, intentions, decisions and actions questioned? Am I painting a far-fetched and unrealistic picture of the future America? I wonder. Well if nobody else wants to think about it, I'm going to think … OUT LOUD!!! CC: @LadyDuck

@LadyDuck - For me my "how" for "change" is what I'm doing right now. I didn't have to write out a discussion in a public forum. I could have kept my thoughts to myself. But I risked making a public statement not knowing if it would be deleted by the site owners or simply ignored by readers. It's a small step but it's a step. Maybe the citizens don't want to admit it, but our country is in trouble. Most of US always assume we will have our freedom. But I don't. The serpent was beautiful. But also subtle. I'm not a serpent and I don't plan to be subtle on these issues. Thanks for engaging with me sweet lady. Power to the people!

@cmoneyspinner Okay and how can people change this? Going out and making a Revolution? I think that people live too well in our day to renounce to everything and fight. We are no more in the times of French Revolution.

God forbid any watchdogs on Congress (regardless of party affiliation) but they did their jobs too well? Really?

OK. How would you interpret their action? Nobody said anything about OCE during all that campaigning. At least I didn't hear anything. I didn't even know what it was. But I did hear a lot of remarks about the “ethics” of both POTUS hopefuls. Maybe you even heard one of the hopefuls say that “A president can't have a conflict of interest.” So the first thing the political leaders do is swing a sledgehammer at an organization that … what?? Did do its job? OR Didn't do its job? OR Might do its job? They don't need or want it do its job? OR … (???) So? Nobody gets to question the ethics of Congress AND a president (or members of his administration) possibly having conflicts of interest (or other ethical matters)? That “official act” looks screwy and questionable ... from a distance. Should the American people simply ignore it?? Shouldn't we at least think on it???
