The P-52 Mountain Lion Kitten Has Died

After I wrote about the death of P-39, the California mountain lion which was hit by a car, I promised to let everyone know about the fate of her three kittens, which were only an estimated six months old when their mother died. Today, they reported on the news that P-52, one of P-39's kittens, was hit by a car on Highway 118 in Southern California. They do not know the fate of the other kittens, but authorities are afraid they will eventually die, too, because they are not old enough to be skilled hunters. They still needed their mother. It is sad, because they don't know exactly where they are, so they cannot trap them and put them in an animal sanctuary. The only reason they know what happened to P-52 is because it was hit by a car, like its mother. The photo above is an actual picture they got of two of the kittens. Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news.

And we are sorry to hear this result of mankind taking over the habitat without regard for the beings that belonged there first. It goes on and on.

But my mock-tudor apartments look really nice! Plus I have a genuine electric stove.

@JamesHxstatic - There has been discussion for years about increasing the number of land bridges to make it easier for mountain lions and other migrating wildlife to have larger areas where they can roam. However, no one has put up the money. I hope that changes before more animals become extinct.

I wish they'd all been further away from pesky pink humans.

@DeborahDiane It is indeed. My assumption is that the kitten was looking for mom. But of course I don't really have any idea.

@Tampa_girl7 - I agree that it is tragic and sad that the kitten was hit by a car. I hope they are able to rescue the other two.

That is awful news, and it breaks my heart! My eyes are tearing up looking at those poor kittens. I'd take them if I could.

@DianneN - I certainly wish they could find the other two kittens and take them to a sanctuary.

@DianneN - I know that Rangers and nature lovers in the area are keeping an eye out for them. However, there is no question they are vulnerable right now. I'll let everyone know if I hear anything else.

@DeborahDiane They are so cute, that I can't look at them. I hope they can be located, too.

@Plethos - Yes, it is the way of nature ... although the fact that both the mother and kitten were killed by cars, means it was not exactly an act of nature. Too bad!

@BelleStarr - I also hope that the others survive. If they do, I'm sure we will hear more about them.

It is to bad that they can not find them to protect them.

@jstory07 - Yes, it is too bad they cannot find the mountain lion kittens and protect them. They do not sound like they are old enough to fend for themselves.

That is so sad. It is awful to think of the poor little things dying of starvation or whatever.

@JudyEv - I agree that it is sad they could be dying of starvation ... or end up being killed by another predator like a bob cat.
