January History: Part Two

United States
January 9, 2017 1:11pm CST
Well, I’m getting even more behind on the January history. I didn’t get a chance to write much of anything yesterday. I just stayed downstairs all day where it was nice and warm by the pellet stove. Upstairs, it was just too cold and that’s where my computer is. Outside, t was 4 F below Zero this morning and 2 F below zero yesterday morning. I’m upstairs now, but I have an electric heater, so I’m going to try to write a few posts today. January 3, 1496: Leonardo da Vinci unsuccessfully tests a flying machine. January 3, 1870: Work begins on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City January 3, 1924: Stone sarcophagus holding mummified body of King Tut discovered January 3, 1925: Benito Mussolini declares himself dictator of Italy January 3, 1938: March of Dimes Foundation founded. January 3, 1977: Apple Computer, Inc. incorporates Now, what happened on January 4th? January 4, 1896: Utah became the 45th state. January 4, 1951: North Korean and Communist Chinese troops capture the city of Seoul, during the Korean conflict. January 4, 1965: The poet, T.S. Eliot, died in London. He was 76 years old. Another famous person who lived and died during my lifetime. Not sure of the year, but Actress Jane Wyman was born on January 4th, along with Don Shula. Floyd Patterson was also born on January 4th, and also country singer, Patty Loveless. These are just a few of things I found. There were lots of other things, I'm sure.

Interesting and thanks for sharing. I am lucky that our one really warm room has my PC in it. Keep warm and hope the weather behaves.

@RasmaSandra That bridge has a LOT of history too. I was fascinated with the tolls that were charged when it first opened. Like 5 cents for horse drawn carts and such.

I enjoy looking back at history. Day by day. We are in a new year so it's a good time to start.
