Too much of a celeb fuss ...

Sometimes I think celebrities get fussed over too much.  There are many examples of this, (celebrity babies, celebrity weddings, are two things that come to mind.)  but one that really got my irk was the robbery of Kim Karadashian-West back in October.  The details are in the link to the article at the bottom of this page. Apparently Kim was tied up but unharmed while the thieves made off with some very valuable jewelry.  This is nothing personal against Kim Kardashian West - I am sorry for her in that it must have been a scary ordeal and it's too bad that her jewelry was stolen, however what I think is unjust is that amount of attention this case got.  What about people who get robbed of money they were depending to live on?  (Kim can still eat, have a roof over her head while missing some baubles) Or what about far worse crimes that happen multiple times a day - people who are beaten, raped or worse.... ? Just my two cents worth... Link to the aforementioned article: (The link will really take you to the article, I just tried it)

The press will go to any lengths to get hot news on celebrities, because they know most people would gobble it up.

I wouldn't say most people. But there are enough people bored with their own lives to keep the "celebrity gossip" business going.

@TheHorse What I should have said is that they know there is a big market out there for that sort of thing.

Celebrities are big people. The media makes a lot of fuss about them. They think they are always important to be given attention

It's nice to hear about them but too much is too much you know.

I agree with you 100%. If not for their celebrity status, these things (birth of a child, wedding, etc) would not be treated with utmost attention.

I wonder if people like Kardashian pay the press to have articles written about them. They (people like Kim Kardashian) are irrelevant, but need that kind of coverage to stay "famous."

@Brittnyrose Or maybe there's just a synergy/symbiosis between low-life celebs and the MSM because that kind of stuff sell to a certain demographic.

That's an interesting theory @TheHorse , I had wondered about the so called "reality" shows... I think a lot of the "fun stuff" the tv network pays for...

That is true. But many lower SES people follow her for some reason.

Never really understood why she was famous in the first place.

There's always too much going on with celeb. I guess it's all part of entertainment.

I like @JudyEv's point. Even if nothing's going on, they somehow slither into the news.

I tend to get mixed up between the talent-free famous for being famous Kardasians and the Deep Space Nine Cardassians

I think people like to hear about celebrities, rather than people they don't know anything about. Sometimes it takes a celebrity to bring attention to something, such as an illness. People talk about these celebrities, like they know them personally.

You're absolutely right. Sometimes these people just have to sneeze and it makes headlines.

They are considered public figures and the media gets high credits in telling their story to the people...

I know right...it can really be annoying. The things that should be news worthy are thrown on the back burner and not looked at.
