There must have been an ice storm

I got a call at 5:40 am that there was a 2 hour delay. I changed the alarm to 7:30 so my son and I could sleep later since my daughter didn't have to get to school as early. Ten minutes before the alarm went off I got another call from the school that it was now closed. I looked outside to see why school was closed and saw the roads are half slush and half ice. Everything else in site is all ice... The grass, the sidewalks, my van, the driveway! I was going to go to town today to get some food but I am not going anywhere now! I put salt on the sidewalk because I know my father is coming by later. I am hoping he doesn't fall in my driveway. My daughter is happy there is no school. My son and I are doing his cyber school. The internet was spotty so I was worried we wouldn't be able to do his classes.

Not sure how bad we got it here I guess we will know when we go out later.I am sure now that your daughter don't have school she will be up in her room playing on her keyboard.Right hopefully your dad don't fall in your driveway hopefully the salt will kick in by the time he comes.

I am not sure what she is doing up there at the moment as she is very quiet. I think she is likely on her tablet. Hopefully the salt I sprinkled on my sidewalk will melt the ice there soon before my dad comes by.

@Tina30219 She is a huge reader but this past year has been more interested in watching videos on her tablet.

Ice storms are so very dangerous. I'm glad they were prudent and cancelled school. I use to love those days.

I used to love when school got cancelled due to snow as well! I would sleep in and then go out and play outside all day long.

@shaggin It is definitely a high to suddenly get a day all to oneself.

That does not sound good :-( My kids and I slept right through it so I had to look out this morning to see why school had been cancelled.

To me, there is nothing worse than ice! I think canceling school was the right decision.

It is good that none of the students or teachers had to be out on the roads as they were bad. By my house is much better then the roads out in the country areas on the dirt roads. They always get worse weather as the elevation is higher.

It must be a nightmare for schools to have to ring everyone early enough to stop them leaving for school.

They used to actually have workers who got up early and did this. Now the superintendant of the school creates an automatiated message that gets sent to everyone who attends or works at the school. Technology is wonderful!

@shaggin It certainly lightens the load in many areas.

Thank you. The roads are better now but I am not leaving the house at all. My driveway is still pretty icy.

@shaggin Well if you don't have to leave then it's best to stay in.
