Books are definately very special - and nothing can replace an afternoon with a book in the sun... But movies are just so much easier. I don't have the time to read as much as I used to :( Movies just replace the entertainment that books do sometimes because of time. And I like the way my brain turns to mush while I'm watching a movie - that's relaxation :)

I agree with you. I think books can give much more of a descriptive setting and it kind of lets your mind make the pictures. My favorit book is "Go Ask Alice."

I have seen my favorite books get turned into films and sometimes I believe that the book is much better than the movie but sometimes it's the other way round. My favorite book has to be the Lord of the rings and the movies were just as good. I think that the answer to your second question depends on the quality of the book or movie in question.

I prefer to watch a movie. I tend to get easily distracted when I am reading, whereas if I am watching a movie, I may not even hear the doorbell ring. I only ever read before going to sleep at night.

I love reading books. I don't like watching TV or movies very much. For this reason my vote is for books.

I usually prefer the book. When I read the book, it plays a little movie in my head and I can visualize what is going on and make my own interpretations. When you watch a movie, you are having someone else's interpretations forced upon you.

I prefer watching movies to reading books (if I can be completely honest for a minute & not pretend to be some intellectual! LOL) But whenever I read a good book it makes me long for someone to turn it into a movie! I probably shouldn't wish for that though cuz most books I love wind up being really bad versions in film form.

If you are an avid reader and someone who is very imaginative books are definitely the way to go. It allows for your imagination to take flight. you to conjure up characters and places, you know make them your own, which makes the book come alive, but its also nice to see film versions of books and see if they would in any way mirror all the wonderful things you thought up.

I enjoy watching movies, they are more entertaining than readings books. But if I really want to understand the story, I read the book. This way I won't miss any single detail about the story. I used to read books, but nowadays I just can't find the time because of work.

I like both equally. I can read a book when i am alone or read one to my children and I can watch a good movie with my husband or a family movie with my children. I prefer older movies with actors and actresses like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. I read books by authors like C.S. Lewis and Jeannette Oake.
