I have been having crunchy peanut butter that I buy online. This butter invariably has more than just peanuts which may not be quite good for health although everyone sings praises of peanut butter being better than the normal butter. Homemade butter has no preservative. Could just adding salt which is one of the ingredients preserve it for atleast a couple of months?

I hate peanut butter, but it does seem to be extremely popular, especially in the USA.

I was introduced to it I think at Persona Paper. It has health benefits but buying it ready made may not be quite healthy. The crunchy variety is more palatable.

I read somewhere about that which we get in the market has additives which may not be good for health. Making it at home I read is simple.

Too much salt would be another health problem.

That's cool that you can make the peanut butter by yourself. I am interested in how you make it.

I am not sure how to preserve peanut butter although i actually used to make it at home. It is very easy, healthy and cheaper. I used to make small batches for me to eat. I love homemade food like this and try to make most of what i can. Either way i think there is actually a certain way to preserve peanut butter yet i cant recall how.

May be small batches would be better as you have said. In some cases I notice they add honey and salt.

I should think adding salt would prolong the life of the butter but I don't know for how long.
