New Year's Eve Entertainment

Ok, so this is a very late post. It's the 13th already and New Year's Eve is long gone. I have been so busy with family over the holidays and with a family emergency that I have not been here. I am trying to get back into the swing of things, though. Now, back to the original topic at hand. Every year we have watched Dick Clark's Rocking New Year's Eve celebration instead of going out. We get free concerts and fireworks without all the hassle of crowds and driving and spending crazy money. Plus, the kids stay up and watch with us. It is a family tradition to spend New Year's Eve this way in our household. I must admit that in 2015 and this year I was disappointed. In 2015 seeing Jenny McCarthy kissing all over Donnie Walberg just about turned my stomach . They were still lip-locking in 2016 but the thing that got me was the whole Mariah Carey flop. I love Mariah Carey's music and her voice, but come on let's be realistic. These are your songs.... you should not need a teleprompter to pick up the tempo and lip-sync them. Better yet, if you are being paid to perform, why do you need to lip-sync? So... unless Ryan Seacrest can come up with some better entertainers, that actually entertain for a living, I will have to find something else to watch to welcome in the New Year. Anyone else see the show and get disappointed at the going-ons?

I haven't seen the lip-syncing fiasco but it is sure getting talked about.

It wasn't lip syncing.. I guess she didn't realize they were going to play Emotions, so she just sort of stood there on the stage. She said she couldn't hear the music so she wasn't able to get in tempo. She tried once or twice, sang a line... then she said she'd let the audience sing. Oddly, for not being prepared.. her back up dancers seemed to know exactly what to do and were following tempo perfectly..

@katsmeow1213 Maybe the dancers had rehearsed without her or something.

@JudyEv for some reason myLot will not let me comment to your original post. It is getting lots of attention in the entertainment world and on the news channels as well. With the rehearsing bit, I think that is the problem she did not rehearse. If she had, she would know what song they were going to start with.

Watched a clip of Mariah Carey's 'performance'. Yes, it was a disappointment!

@Shellyann36 I think she is at a point in her career that she'll do anything to be talked about.

@allen0187 I think you might be right. Of course, now I think she is going through a depression over the situation. I kind of feel bad about the depression but geez! She should stop being such a diva and realize that her "job" is to perform.

@allen0187 Yes it was truly disappointing. Makes me sad that she has such a bad attitude these days. I watched a clip of her on some entertainment talk show and she was ripping newer singers, who had stated that she (Mariah) had not been very nice to new singers in general.

There are a few different channels I believe that cover the ball dropping so maybe next year you can choose a different one. Jenny McCarthy is definitely not for everyone that’s for sure especially the older generation. I am having such a hard time mylotting with al the redirects grrr.

@shaggin LOL Jenny McCarthy is from my generation. I believe we are around the same age. I guess I am not that crazy about Donny Walberg. Not a huge fan of either of them but geeze that your lips elsewhere.

We stopped watching it a few years ago.. I haven't found it entertaining for a few years. Glad I missed all that Mariah Carey stuff because I stopped liking her after about her 3rd album, when the Diva kicked in and the original Mariah disappeared. I watched a couple movies that night and went to bed, hubby was working.

@katsmeow1213 she has turned into a "Diva" and that is sad because she is a really good singer. We ended up flipping channels most of the night.

I really like Mariah too and was glad I went to bed early. I used to watch until the ball falls but not this year. I watched it see the fireworks all around the planet.
