No More Casino Gambling For Me!

So I wanted to share this because I havent really talked about any of my problems with gambling - but oh boy do I have problems. I LOVE gambling at the casino, playing the penny slots and playing quite a lot of money into it. I started pretty heavily this last year and it has slowed me down financially, since I have spent extra money on gambling rather than paying down student loan debt and credit card debt. I think part of the reason is because I started working odd days, so when I was free most of my friends were not - except my one former coworker and partner in crime. She works a very part time job and is always down to gamble, be it a Tuesday or a Saturday. A few weeks ago I had a low point where I spent far too much money and just left feeling like a piece of poop (wont bore you with the figures...but a lot) so I decided it was time to start fresh. Find other hobbies. Start getting serious about my finances. And here I am. Its only been 23 days but I already feel like I have much more money. Its jist hard because I find it so fun! But I am done. I am going to continue doing lottery (only a couple bucks a week) but thats it. Anyone else have any problems gambling? Or any words of wisdom to share?

I have never gambled. Honestly, I am afraid to, cause if I did and I liked it I could be addicted. We (hubby and I) do other things addictively, like eat out or buy groceries. That is easier to hide from yourself and it is easy to excuse. I would repeat something I have read a few times. You do not break a bad habit, you replace it with a good one. So find something great and fun to replace your casino addiction with.

Thank you!! I appreciate the positivity. I am trying to find that "thing"to replace it with. Kind of realizing I dont have many hobbies and that is a problem! Besides shopping. And MyLotting. Haha. So I am still a work in progress there. Thanks again.

The only experience I had with the slot machine was when I was at the Washington Airport waiting for our flight. We were on a package holiday. I saw those slot machines and got interested. I spent 20 dollars but broke even. I get a thrill when I play online where no money is involved.

Oh yes. Airport slot machines! Never played them in the airport but it is so thrilling. I was thinking about downloading a casino slot app/game but will that help or hurt me in trying to quit gambling? Thinking it might have me thinking about it more. Lol. Thanks as always for your response!

@maezee There is no harm in downloading and trying it. If you fee it will tempt you to go for the real thing then you can stop playing

Stay away from casino because casinos will always have an edge over its customers. Sometimes, as high as a 12% edge.

Exactly. But you do always hear about the folks who win big.

Good. It can be fun and exciting for sure. But do it in moderation and dont set too high of expectations!

Gambling is too risky and not worth the risk
