Filling up a bucket.

And, I'd been doing that since we were hit by the fury of typhoon Nina. We did not expect it to happen. The rain & wind started getting crazy on December 25. A date when families & friends were supposed to be gathered in merry-making as it was just the Christmas eve. But, we were not. Instead, we were huddled in our mezzanine as our rooms downstairs were almost drowning in flood! Reminiscing what happened still send shivers to my spine! The flood seemed to find its way up, every minute! In case it continued, maybe we will be found on top of our house! That for me was unimaginable! I am just so glad and thankful because my dearly beloved woke me up when he saw the water rising fast & about to reach our bed, in so short a time. He & our daughters led me up the mezzanine, our only escape from the flood, that night. We had lots of important items heavily soaked in muddy flood & beyond use again. Our small coconut land lost a lot of harvest plus our other trees were ripped to the roots! But, those were nothing to us. We lost electricity on the same day. Got it back just the other day (after 20 days). Still lucky, because most areas near us are still dark as numerous lamp posts were destroyed during the typhoon, its rehab accordingly will still take months! With our electricity restored, we also got our wifi back. Tho' it"s still not too stable yet. Our water? At times it stops. So, when I see it coming, I have to fill a bucket! We were so thankful because we survived the storm. Praise God!

I'm so blessed with your positive spirit. Inspite of what you've been through because of Typhoon Nina, you can still see the good things and for that you did not forget to be thankful. I pray everything will soon be back to normal so life will be easier for you all.

Thank you, my friend! Having survived Nina is a great blessing for me & my family. We just had a muddy flood in our house, but not one from my family was harmed or injured. Luckily, the Architect who took charge in building this new home (after our former was razed by fire during the typhoom Milenyo), was true to his words. He said this is strong enough to withstand typhoons. But, he was just a bit mistaken in giving our property only with a slight elevation from the road. So, the flood inside.

@KnehKnah Nowadays houses should be built with enough elevation but at least flood does not always come.

You are right, my dear @salonga . And, because of typhoon Nina's flood, we decided to have an earth refill again. We're just a bit sorry for the big expense we had for the tiling of our ground floor. It will be buried in the earthfill. Then, more expenses will follow for the concreting & another tiling of the same. Whew! But, it will spare us from more flood, we hope.

i'm so glad to see you back! i thought about you when i heard from the news that camsur was badly. it also took a while for simplyd/rebelwoman to resurface here. first it was lawin in north luzon (ilocosboy and ingrid/ridingbet), then bicol, and now cdo so i'm thinking about other filipino mylotters there, too. it feels like ondoy.

Thank you for the thought, my friend! And yes, CamSur was indeed badly hit! Until now, most areas in our city are still dark. We heard that the rehab for our local electric coop will take months. I pray that no MyLotter was affected by the typhoon that hit CDO.

Just today I just cleaned our drum and refilled it again. No wonder I haven't seen you for the last few days. I'm glad you survived the storm and getting back on your feet already.

I hope you have a clean supply of water, my friend. A lot of us here are in doubt if our water is indeed potable. The best thing is to boil our water before drinking. Yes. I was "out if reach" again days before, during, & after typhoon Nina. Reasons? We prepared for our Annual Family Reunion last Dec. 25. Unluckily, typhoon Nina happened that same day. Days after Nina? Gosh!

How awful that you had to go through that, especially in your state of health. 20 days without electricity must have been awful, and to be without a good water supply too. I hope things are getting back to normal for you.

oh.. Thank God you are all safe. It's so unfortunate that it had to happen on a Christmas day. It's even more unfortunate that it happened. I'm sorry about your farm.

Your country really have terrible storms, KnehKnah! I am glad you and your family managed everything all right during the typhoon and afterwards! I have never been in a typhoon... I don't even know what one looks like. Have you ever seen a tornado? One followed my car for miles when Pretty was little. She was asleep while I was driving. When the tornado came closer and then passed our car on the highway, I woke Pretty up so she could see the tornado beside us. (She was more than half asleep, looked outside and then laid back down. The she jumped up all excited to see a tornado running alongside the car! It was probably a mile or more away from us, but followed us for a long way!) When you return to myLot, please contact me and let me know how you are doing. Thank you!

It was good no one in your family was hurt by that flood! The material things may be lost; but life is more precious than all those wealth.

It must have been a very terrible experience for you and your family. What's important though is that you're all safe. Material things may be lost but, in time, you'll be able to acquire replacements for them. It's been coninuously raining again here in our place since dawon but I hope it won't result into much flooding like the other day. CDO was much worse as cars were floating in floodwaters.

God was really on your side during that time. It was an experience that you can't really forget in your lifetime but you still have to consider yourselves lucky because no one in your family was hurt.. It's good that you are now slowly getting back on your feet. Stay safe always...

I am sorry to hear that you had to go through all of those things, especially during the holidays. And electricity was just restored just the other day? Whoa! That's scary... But I am glad you're safe...
