Blood donations have come to a hault in the country due to the bad weather and people not going out. If you are able I hope you will think about this. Here's some interesting information about giving blood:
To ensure the safety of blood donation for both donors and recipients, all volunteer blood donors must be evaluated to determine their eligibility to give blood. Learn blood donation eligibility requirements.

THey had to reschedule blood drives here a couple of weeks ago. Otherwise, we've not had any inclement weather. People should give blood when they can, because one day it could be them in need of blood.

I have never given any blood. But I have two friends that donate their blood for money every month. I do not know why they call it donate when they get money.

Are they giving blood or platelets? I know you can give platelets for money.

@celticeagle Yes but as Judy said, her friends donated for money. I've never heard of blood being donated for money, but people can give platelets for money. Though, I do imagine the red cross would take both. I"m not sure if they are the same organization that pays for platelets though.

I have very small blood vessels and can't give because they just can't find a vein. I have trouble giving blood for my annual check ups.

It was in our news that they were short of donations in Canada as they increased the time between donations for women. That set them back some. Here it is always donated; we don't get paid.
