Today has been such a busy day for me and my mother in law. I woke up at 8am and we didn't get back home until 4pm. The first stop we made today was to my current college so that I could get my text books considering I have literally one week left before classes start. It was text book discount day so I saved $42 on my total cost and was able to find 3 out of my 4 text books used! A bonus was that the store wasn't crowded like it usually gets during fall terms so I was in and out in 20 minutes maybe less. After the college store we set out for Fortis, the school that is an hour away and has the only accredited dental programs. I went to the informational session which was filled with plenty of info on how to get into the program and what to expect from it. I already took a test in which the lady told me I did exceptionally well and had one of the highest scores ever. I was proud of that but the rest of the process for applying into the program takes so much more. Included is an interview, an exam like the SATs, tons of medical paperwork I will have to turn in if I score high enough on the exam, an essay, and more interviews. My biggest thing was finding out the tuition for the program. This program is 28 months and it will cost $53k! I talked to the financial aid at the college and they told me that even with my FAFSA grant which will be accepted there, I will still have to take out a loan. I have planned for never taking a loan out because I don't want debt hanging over my head for the rest of my life! I also have the fact that I have no experience in the dental field or work in general and other applicants do. they only take 15 students at a time and I know for a fact that there are people who do have the experience applying for it. The only good thing that I asked about what I could do if I don't get accepted. I can apply for their also accredited dental assistant program which would have a lower tuition and is only 11 months. It would help me to build my experience to eventually in the future become a dental hygienist and it would get me 5 certifications including cpr, hippa, and radilogy! I don't know if I a completely ready to jump ahead to the dental hygiene program but I can try. I am much more excited about the dental assisting program because all I need to apply and get in is basically give them my high school diploma unlike the dental hygiene program which they require high school transcripts and college transcripts. After we got out of Fortis we went to lunch at ihop because we were starving by the time we gout out of there which was at 2pm. After lunch, I had a BLT with fries and iced coffee, we headed to walmart so I could buy my son some ibuprofen for his fevers and a brand new thermometer to take his temperature since his older one doesn't work so well anymore. My day was obviously hectic and I am shocked I haven't passed out yet. What have you done today? What did you have for lunch? What do you do after a long day of going nonstop?

Wow you did have a busy day! I hope everything works out with your schooling. Today I have been recovering from a stomach bug my whole family has. =( It was an exhausting night with absolutely no sleep.
