We are still food snobs-

We are self-proclaimed food snobs. For us, this means we will not eat what we don't like. Life is too short to eat what others think is food if it is something you do not want or like. As a vegan/vegetarian household, we don't cook meat of any sort. For us, making food at home is usually our choice. We know how to cook everything we want and like, so that is not an issue. It seems anyone can be a food snob. This does not mean being a picky eater, it means you have decided what food if the best choice to satisfy you. Are you a food snob too?

And that is exactly it. The choice is there for many of us.

I don't call it being a food snob but just eating favorites and what you like.

We are snobs in that we won't eat what some others do. Just our choice of words.

I also don't eat meat but my vegan cooking still needs some work. I have not made a successful meatloaf yet.

@bunnybon7 - It's what I mean, of course. Some people make really good ones with lentils and such but I haven't gotten the knack.

You could be right. Liking caviar and dark chocolate sort of tags a person being sophisticated. (lol)

Bleck to the caviar, but dark chocolate can be good if it is the right kind. See? My snobby self won't eat all chocolate, just the ones w/o milk.

I am a food snob but totally opposite of you. We enjoy cooking at home and we enjoy eating out and we love our beef and chicken.....to each his or her own right. As long as I don't preach to anyone and no one preaches to me...a lot of that goes on at Facebook and I have unfriended some.

Some are shocked that we don't care what others eat. Yes, we find their menus offensive and would not eat what they do, but that is their business. One funny thing to me is how often we are preached to about how you can't be healthy (or live long) eating how we do. Can people be that uninformed? Many in the world never eat animal products and are just fine.

We do too, just limit ourselves to what we like. The list is long, but not what some others might like. Guessing this makes us snobs.

I don't think I would call myself a food snob. I will admit that I won't eat it if I don't like it.

That might just make you a food snob. Life is short-why eat what you don't like if you don't have to!

Yes and no. My dad always told us be able to eat anything in front of you - that there are people out there who don't even have a choice - not even to eat. I have mostly agreed, and I think I am an adventurous eater and would eat anything that is available. But the problem is so much is available - we CAN pick and choose what we want to eat. I will try most things, but may not want to eat them regularly, so I don't.

It is nice that we do have a choice now. As children we were taught the same way-eat what is served. Someone is missing a meal, be happy you have one. Now that we can pick what we like, we like veggies, fruits, beans. So many options!

@PatZAnthony That's understandable coz you're a vegetarian. Dragon fruits aren't expensive here. Whenever i visit different countries, I do try to explore their food.

@toniganzon Some of the foods we find from other countries in local markets are not only expensive, people are not sure how to fix these items. A quick look online solves this for me.

We explore new veggies and fruits. We saw our FIRST Dragon Fruit in a store here last year. It was okay, but pricey.

@PatZAnthony Actually I have read that if you eat just those veggies, you will not feel as strong as when you eat those protein giving foods like lean meats .

@SIMPLYD Thirty years without meat and counting. Much published information about meat must be wrong, b/c here I stand! And I do stand all day. Have a standing desk so as not to become one of those who sit all day!

I guess we are food snobs. I look at all the food commercials on TV for various eating places and they hardly ever make me hungry. I think it's much safer to prepare healthy food at home -- especially during flu season when servers and cooks may be coming to work sick and passing their germs on to customers.

I'm both I guess. I am a food snob, as is my husband, he loves my cooking, but I am also a picky eater. I don't like a lot of things, so maybe that lead way to me becoming a good cook.

Probably when you explain it that way, although I've never thought of myself in that way before. I don't know of too many people that will allow themselves to be coerced into eating what they don't enjoy no matter who is suggesting it. So probably the majority of the human population would fit into this category. Although I do eat meat, I don't have it every day nor every week for that matter. The food in your wok looks yummy. Is that sesame seeds on top of the veggies?

I am somewhat a food snob. I eat and cook what I like. But at someone's home, anything they serve me is going to be fine. I wish I was a bit more of a food snob and could turn a few things down.
