I think in some ways it depends too, on your religious beliefs. The Catholic church seems to be totally against it, for example.
Is abortion murder?
What affect does it have on the incoming soul?
Does each instance of pregnancy have a purpose of God's behind it, which we stymie, if we allow abortion to take place?
Abortion could be said to be partially the responsibility of the mother who surely knows when the body's soul enters it. Each mother would have a sense of this I think.
After the soul enters the baby, I think that, abortion should not be allowed, as each baby's body is then formed enough to house the soul, and the soul usually enters after two or three months, as by then it is already welcoming the new experiences of the baby into its own soul-self, even within the womb.
When you abort a baby, with a soul already in it, this also becomes a sort of sin, against that soul too, and so doing, will incur future karmic repercussions for the person allowing this to take place too, I expect.
