My daughter decided yesterday that our pretty kitty cat needed a bath. I told her that she would probably get clawed up really bad but if she wanted to try to give her a bath it was fine with me. She watched some videos on youtube and looked up how to's online on how to bathe a cat. She laid down a towel so our cat would not slip. Filled the tub with a few inches of water and put her in. She meowed a little but did not freak out like I thought she would. She is such a sweet old cat. After she was taken out and dried off with a towel she gave herself a bath with her tounge. My son got a kick out of that.

Glad that it went so well. Bathing a cat usually doesn't go so well.

It is a fake idea to think that cats are refusing to have baths. I always bathed my cats twice a year, and they never refused a bath. Sometimes they protest a bit, but they do not try to flee and I have never been clawed during a bath.

This same cat and her brother clawed the devil out of me when they were kittens and were bathed. They had fleas terribly when we picked them up as strays.

@shaggin It never happened to me. I never had kittens though. I used to feed the wild cats in the neighborhood in my previous house, and times to times a cat was adopting me. It is impossible to do it now, I have no more a front garden.

My daughter says we should bathe her once a week... Nah! The warm water probably does feel good on their joints in old age actually :-)

Aww poor cat. At least he didn't fight and scratch her. I've tried to do that with my cat's wound on his paw. He didn't like it, when I dipped his paw into the water at the sink. But now I used a wet towel around it.

I am very glad she did not get scratched! There are so many germs on cats nails. How did your cat hurt its paw?

@KristenH aww poor kitty. That is very good you did not have to spend money to take him to the vet! Did you use neosporin on it? I do on my own cuts if they won't heal or start to look infected but I am not sure if it can be used on animals.

@shaggin Me too. I have no idea. My brother believes it was from a nail somewhere on the carpet. But I don't see any nails or sharp objects around. It's a mystery. It's not infected and no trips to the vet for him. But it's been pink for three weeks now and healing.

I would love to bath the stray kitten I have adopted, but I doubt she would like it.

When my two kittens were very small they were infested with fleas. We had to bathe them to pick the fleas off our the kittens scratched us up so bad!

That was nice that your daughter wanted to give the cat a bath and even looked up how to do it online. I bet the cat was saying to itself after she was done I am glad that is over lol. Glad your son got a kick out of the cat giving herself a bath with her tongue.

I thought it was sweet that my daughter wanted to look up how to do it right. She puts her all into anything she does even washing the cat haha.

The last time I tried to bathe a cat it didn't go well. I have never attempted it again.

Lol when my cat was a kitten and her and her brother had bad fleas we had to bathe them and my skin was clawed up so bad. I did not want to attempt washing her again but my daughter did so I let her. I was glad for my daughter that my cat was calm and nice about being bathed.

Happy to hear the bath was a success. We had to bathe our Persian cat that way a few times. He wasn't very happy, but it needed to be done.

I'm really surprised the cat allowed it too. Mostly, if they are not used to being bathed they don't like it one little bit.

I've heard that cats don't need baths unless they get into something, on all accounts I'm happy it wasn't too tough on kitty

She's never gotten stinky like a dog does. I've never heard of cats needing a bath either.
