Pigs Might Fly

Back in 2015 we stayed in Bristol for a few days. During that time we drove to Wales and did a tour around. We came upon a market in one town. There were stalls of all kinds including some selling antiques. What I loved though were the pigs hanging from the ceiling.
Pigs get a bad press but they make great pets and are supposed to be just behind dogs when it comes to intelligence. Rolling in mud helps them control parasites on their skin but otherwise they are clean creatures if they have the opportunity. They allocate one corner of their area as a toilet which is pretty admirable. And who said pigs don't fly?

I am not sure that I would have a pig as a pet. But, then again, our landlord said we can't have dogs, but nothing about pigs.

@ElusiveButterfly He'd be speechless - at least for a few moments! Then he might be very loud.

When I was a kid we had a pet pig, Porky. He was an awesome pet.

I wouldn't get a pig for a pet. Just a matter of preference. I have a friend who keeps a pot-bellied pig for a pet and I'm not impressed.

@JudyEv my friend keeps her pet pig inside her house. The pig is clean and it smells clean but I can't help but be disgusted at the sight of it.

@allen0187 I can understand that. I'd be much the same.

The thought of keeping a pig as pet did occur to me but then its size bothered me and so too a few other issues such as its diet and stuff.

Some can get very big. Did you see this post?
Now that's a big pig.

Following on my last pig post, here is a very ancient photograph of a very large pig and a very grumpy little boy. I am always a bit surprised at how big pigs...

well, pig poo can be smelly, and I have seen a sow bite mark on a school mate before, it was nasty looking. Had no idea they could do that kind of bite damage

Everytime I scrolled past this as I try to catch up, all I could think of was Pink Floyd's flying pig. Sorry, I got nothing. My only experience with pigs is eating them.

I'd keep it outside but they do get quite affectionate - at least as much as a sheep or a cat, probably not a dog. :)

They were a good size. You wouldn't want one landing on you.

Interesting!
My daughter wants a pet pig. I told her she can have one when she gets her own house!

That's a good idea. I wouldn't have it in the house but in its own area.

I heard they are even smarter than dogs. Not to mention their biological make up is closer to humans than other animals for medical purposes

Maybe they are too smart to let themselves be trained for tasks.
I'm pretty sure they use pigs' heart-valves in place of human ones.

I didn't realize they are clean critters. I also didn't know they roll around in the mud for those reasons either. I have run into a few people that have them for pets though, but not for quite a while.

That's for sure. We eat a lot of pork too but if I had a pet one I wouldn't eat him!

I remember a movie about pet pig, it may be called Babe. But it doesn't change my opinion to pigs yet.
