Chicken foot - an almost love story

I should start a series of writing called misadventures in dating. If I do, let's make this the first one! About a year ago I met a single man. Now meeting someone in my age range who is still single is sort of rare. Add to it the fact that he looked well dressed, well spoken and intelligent .... I was thrilled. Even more thrilled when I suggested to him we exchange numbers. Now before I continue I would like to say that in my own defense - if you didn't talk to him much he acted totally normal. One of our first get togethers I noticed some odd ideas. Example - he wanted to start a Church that would eventually take over the world economy and all media and businesses. Mmmm hmmm. Well one day - I saw him jogging outside. This was in January and the temperature was below freezing. To make it better he was jogging in shorts and no shoes or socks, outside, on his tippy toes, on the ice. I really hoped there was a logical explanation, I really did, but I had to go and ask.... his claim? That he was jogging barefoot on tippy topes, on ice was because as he was becoming enlightened and when he became all the way enlightened he would no longer have human feet - he would have chicken feet, so he was just practicing. Yup, mmmmhmmm... Needless to say I think the person in question is suffering some mental illness and I by no means wish to make fun of that - however I do wish people suffering would be better monitored... in addition to his somewhat eccentric view points and behaviors he also had a real ire against women.

I trust you're no longer seeing him. What a disappointment.

@FayeHazel Just reread my comment. I meant a disappointment that he had problems and wasn't what you might have hoped for.

We got together 3-4 times - last time I saw him was about a year ago. Sometimes I wonder where he is or how it is he's doing

Well yes I would say he is a bit odd. I hope he gets the help he needs. And run don't walk

@FayeHazel .. you are right...it is not good already if we dream beyond limits. Too much of anything is dangerous..

I think it's a mental illness of some type -- I really do hope he finds some help for it

haha In your defense, some mentally ill people really seem very normal, until you start talking to them in depth. You fairly quickly realize they are not!

That behaviour is surely not normal. Hope he realises it and gets help or someone helps him to realise it. .

No wonder he is single ( without making fun of him), girls would get turned off.

Well, let him do what he wants and thinks for what he believes. As long as he doesn't do something violent on you.

No, never was violent physically to me. -- However he would say things ... eg. - he believed rape was ok - esp. if the woman had flirted with the man. I don't know if he'd ever act on that - but it made me hope that someone , help of some type was checking up on him....

We need to do more to help the ones that have mental health problems.

I agree. I found myself really hoping that someone checks up on him -- making sure that he's not acting on some of his more violent thoughts, encouraging him to take meds, etc.

It is a lucky thing you noticed his strange habits before becoming more involved.

I must say that does sound like something straight out of a novel!! What an experience. While I was reading the part where he was running outside in freezing temps in just shorts,my first thought was he was practicing the Wim Hoff method.. That's quite an experience I must say!!!! Thanks for sharing :) xx

It would be really funny in a book or movie. lol. I was hoping, too, at the time that he was maybe training for some kind of extreme sport or mountain climbing or something. Wim Hoff (the ice man) is awesome! One of my favorite quotes: "I'm not afraid of dying, I'm afraid of not living" - Wim Hoff.

@FayeHazel it sure would!! Yes he sure is quite an amazing individual!! That quote speaks volumes for sure.. i would like to one day master his method. Thus far I have only done his breathing exercises. I havent committed to them though. Once I get them down perhaps I will move onto the cold showers lol... I was surprised and impressed that you are familiar with him!! :) xx
