Did you ever wonder how Howard Hughes amassed his fortune? Did you ever see the movie about him starring Leonardo DiCaprio? I think it was entitled “The Aviator.” Howard Hughes was actually born rich. His father invented a drill bit that was used by oil explorers. It must have been very valuable. Just thought you might like to know.

I've seen the film, but I've also read a biography of Hughes. Truthfully, his entire fortune came from the Hughes Tool Co.; nothing else ever really made the same sort of money. It was eventually disposed of by his "assistants" who, by that time, had practical control over the whole of Hughes' assets.

I enjoy reading biographies. It's interesting to read how a person uses his life for good or bad.

@IreneVincent Psychologically, Hughes was a mess, and his closest people eventually took advantage of that and took control of his wealth.

That's interesting. Having some financial backing behind you always has to be good.

Yes, its almost a rule that you need money to make money. Some persons are very clever and can turn a small amount of money into a fortune over time.

Interesting how he was born rich. He did not loss his family money and that is a good thing.

He was very intelligent, I think, but maybe too much so. He had some really bad mental problems in his adult life. The movie is worth seeing.

Yes, some who are born rich, can become even richer, but there are some who have squandered their inheritance too. Some who have invested poorly too.
