A Gaggle of Geese

A Gaggle of Geese

On one of my photo walks yesterday I was lucky enough to capture these geese at Atascadero Lake. I took several photos, but I liked this one best of the shots on land. Several people besides me were watching these geese. One person said one of the geese had attacked him. While I was watching another one seemed to be ready to attack anyone who got too close. That's why I used my zoom lens. What experience do you have with geese? Have you ever been attacked by one? A goose chased my husband when he was a child. Some people even use geese as watchdogs.

On my walk to the shops, I go along the canal and some geese had taken up residence for the winter. they got used to people walking alongside and both groups ignored each other. Must be near the end of winter as the geese have all gone

We have a very mild winter here. The geese are just glad the lake is full again.

I'm always hesitant to get very close. Since I like to photograph wildlife, I'm thankful I have a good zoom lens.

Interesting. Geese are so common here I assumed they were almost everywhere.

Geese are very territorial and I know that my husband golfed at a club where a goose was seen chasing people away from one of the holes. And it was mean when it chased them. Your geese look happy and content.

That's probably because no one was getting too close to them.

We hear these flying over at times on their way to a place warmer than here!

I guess you would hear them. They are far from quiet.

My mother always said that a blow from the wing of a goose was strong enough to break an arm. I have always given them a wide berth.
