TOO UNIFORM FOR COMFORT?

Would you be happy if the company you worked for was one of those where a standard uniform is the required wear for all staff members?
Some company heads decide on style, color and type of fabric without taking into consideration the fact that people do not come in one standard size. What may look good on one , might be a disaster on another.
Of course when you wear a uniform you spend less money on clothes for work, as well as you won't have the bother of wondering what to wear every day. That however, is little compensation for those who crave individuality.
Which would you prefer - to be uniformed? or wear what you want every work day?

This would really depend on the job and on the uniform. You point that some things look good on some but not others makes we think twice.

@Kandae11 Just true, yet employers might expect everyone to just accept it.

@PatZAnthony Most do accept it, they would consider keeping the job to be of more importance.

I think it depends on the uniform. Some careers demand uniforms - law enforcement, medical personnel, even the military. I've been part of two of those and didn't mind wearing a uniform, especially when I was in the military. When I went into civilian life, I wanted more individuality. I'm not a suit or business dress person, so I looked for jobs that allowed for some flexibility in the wardrobe.

Dressing differently every day would be my choice to break the monotony.

I have never worked in an industry where a uniform is required. I have had dress codes but never a uniform.

I've never worked in a company that requires employees to wear uniforms but I don't think I would mind at all. Less trouble choosing what to wear everyday!

I could wear whatever I wanted to work when I worked in NYC. When I worked outside of the home for awhile here in Riga, Latvia I worked in the accounting department of a hotel. It meant an awful colorless uniform that wasn't very comfortable. I certainly prefer wearing what I want.

It would depend on the type of job that you have @Kandae11 . Some jobs require more professional-looking clothing.

@Kandae11 You ain't kidding. I'd wear all pink if it meant continuing to get a paycheck. And I hate the color pink!!

@nanette64 I can't think of a color that I truly hate so my problem might be the style of the uniform and suitability for my body type.

I hated wearing uniform when I was working in an office; I just wore the classic office wear like slacks and blazer.

Oh hell no for me. I already hate corporate wear even if they let you pick out your own business attire. I have a hard time feeling comfortable and relaxed like that. Looking like a million bucks does not make everyone feel like a million bucks. A $19.99 outfit of my own choosing gets full production out of me every time.

Uniforms could be a good choice till college. The concept of uniform works this way - every member of that particular unit is considered as one and the staff shall not be partial to a specific student. That is why many organisations fix uniform.
This may or may not hold good for company like structure since there could be members of all ages and titles in a unit.

I work from home and love the freedom to work in - my old clothes, my pjs, whatever. That said I like the employees of a place to look like they belong there, but also unique. If that made sense?
