Apparently there is a new movie coming out about figure skating. No, I don't mean a sequel to "Blades of Glory" (which was pretty great in it's own right.) - this one is going to be a biographic film about US. Figure Skater Tonya Harding. Do you remember the Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding incident? Incase no, let me refresh you. Sometime back in the early 90s, Kerrigan and Harding were rival US. Figure skaters. During the competition season , someone attacked Kerrigan, hitting her knee. Supposedly to disable her from performing. I am not sure of the details - but under suspicion of having done it - Tonya Harding was banned from competitive figure skating. Bad luck seems to have followed her - before the ban she broke a skate lace before a very important event , may have been the Olympics. So -- I can't wait to see this movie. I would love to see what the story was from her point of view.
Link to an article about the movie
It was clear from her portrayal of DC villain Harley Quinn in last summer's "Suicide Squad" that Margot Robbie has a knack for completely transforming herself on the big screen.

@Letranknight2015 That's my point. She has also had other problems in her life.

I don't remember what all the story was - wasn't her ex-husband involved or something? I am very curious why it's being told from her perspective....

Eeek, what a bad time for her lace to break. I wonder what the odds were on that...

@FayeHazel She had to plead to the judges to let her fix her shoelace so she could compete. It was the last time she ever skated. She's a mockery of ice skating.

Looks like this wasn't a good sports woman as seen in the other responses of other mylotters here. I haven't seen this movie so I think Blades of GLory remains to be the best ice skating movie for me.

Tonya is actually a better skater than Nancy Kerrigan but she is so insecure that she resorted to hiring goons to injure Nancy. I guess she is threatened by Nancy because she have this Girl next door look. had Tanya believed in her self and decided to not go for dirty tactics, she might have won fair and square.
I saw video performances of her and Nancy and she have more fluid but yeah her camp resorted to injuring Nancy due to insecurity. The Goon hit Nancy's knee with a metal baton.
This is a footage of Nancy after the attack, she is really screaming in pain when they found her:

@FayeHazel Yep. They did a behind the scene feature on it, when it showed her learning how to ice skate. Probably later this year like late summer or early fall. They didn't mention the release date though.

One year I named my fantasy football team The Tonya Harding Experience. Coolest name in the league that season!

Blades of Glory
. It will be very interesting to see how this movie plays out. I remember the whole Nancy/Tonya thing . . . it was unbelievable to think anyone would go that far to try to whack a competitor out - no matter what the truth behind that was.
I just checked out the video there . . . Margot's practicing at my old rink! I'm curious to know who is working with her on the ice - I couldn't make it out. And I wonder who her skate double will be. I will have to see this one for sure . . . I just know skaters will scrutinize the skating scenes
