I left work a bit early today to watch my son perform in a Shakespeare competition. There were 4 students (a couple were out sick) performing monologues from various Shakespeare plays.
My son did Romeo..
Shortly after the competition the instructor called me to tell me there had been a tie..
But there will be no tie breaker.
She's really hoping that the kids who were out sick will be able to perform tomorrow, so she just wants a total redo!
She's going to have all the kids come and perform a second time, and this time she'll invite more judges in hopes there is no tie again..
She did tell me my son was one of the students tied for the win.. but wouldn't tell me who the other was..
The winner gets to go to the city University for some workshop classes before entering another competition against other schools in the area. The winner of that goes on to New York City.. and eventually, possibly, London!
My son would love to win and attend those workshops at the university...
But I won't know until at least tomorrow, possibly Wednesday!

I can't, I have to work late tomorrow and need at least 2 days notice to request time off. I'm glad I got to see it today and will be impatiently awaiting the outcome!

@katsmeow1213 I understand. I will say a prayer for him and cross my eyes, fingers, arms, legs, and toes, too.

How exciting is that? I guess you may be more nervous than your son on the night. The best of luck to him. And if he goes to London, he'll need a chaperone, don't you think?

Yes of course he will... I'm just hoping he makes it past this round, I don't expect him to even get as far as New York City!

Oh that would be so fantastic if your son could attend those workshops and travel the world! I remember you said he was quite talented . . . no matter what I'm sure he'll give it his all. Hope all goes well at the redo and that he gets the news he'd like to hear!!

Yes, and it's nice how it gets them interested in learning Shakespeare. I had no interest in it when I was that age!
