My lights are being cut off...

Jacksonville, Florida

Dang electric company won't wait until tomorrow, so I can pay the bill. That is when my ssi check comes in. So it is being cut off. I won't have the extra money for another $200 deposit, and cut off fees, and reconnect fees. I don't know what I am going to do. It is just one more day. But they won't wait. So goodbye everyone. It is going to get real cold tonight.

We know of families with young children who were cut off.

I have had similar to yours bitter exoerience here, in Bulgaria, before years my electricity has been cut off. I do believe that you could find the proper way to resolve this problem. Good luck! If you will be absent from our lot community, we will be waiting for you to appear among us again!

@teresatrotter I was also cut off. I paid the renewal tax and the bill with the interest and they renewed my electricity. It took me one day.

Ah, I see good ol' JEA hasn't changed since I lived in Jacksonville in 1980. Most people I knew on base who were higher up in rank and could afford it lived in Orange Park, in Clay County, so they didn't have to put up with JEA. I'm so sorry that happened, and I hope you can connect with some resources in town (churches, assistance, etc.) that'll help you get your lights back on.

That is so terrible. This is what all of the 'agencies' and churches people donate to are supposed to prevent.

Well... They help once a year, and some only help once every two years. I have tried everything. I don't know anyone I can borrow the money until tomorrow.

Stay warm. I know the feeling. I pay my utility at the same time as my rent every 3rd of the month---that's when I get my SSI too. Couldn't you call them and ask them to wait and tell them the check's on the way, even if you have to pay the late fee.
