I'm seeing messages from the dead....

I know. It's so hard to believe but it's true! And there are so many of them! ok not really. I've developed a new pet peeve. It's not even a big deal but for some reason it just bugs me. I'm such a grinch huh. Anyway I've noticed that a lot of people have commented on a funny YouTube video or a funny photo on Facebook saying "omg I LITERALLY just died!" Like... R.I.P love! That's so sad! See it's not even a big deal but no...you didn't literally die! Why? Why is this a thing? How can I understand you youngins? Stop dying already! Just laugh like a normal alive person! Do you have anything that people say nowadays that just makes you cringe? Like "bae" for example. oh that's another one!

During my 40 years of teaching young people, I've had my fair share of terms that make me cringe, believe me!

@VivaLaDani13 I'm German. The terms that make me cringe are German terms. They would mean nothing if I translated them into English.

When people say "bae," it drives me crazy. And before bae, people called each other "boo." Another word that was common for a while (but thankfully is not trendy anymore) is the word "ratchet." I hated when people said that. That was so ratchet of them.

@VivaLaDani13 What are some terms of endearment that are trending in your country right now? As far as what couples call each other.

@moffittjc The main two I hear or see all the time is "Babe" or "Baby." I honestly can't say I've heard anything else. I see "Bae" every now and then on Facebook but I think and hope that is dying out. Sometimes I wonder if years down the line, the Dictionary will have to be updated with all this generations lingo. My friend's teenage daughter was teaching me some words. I can't for the life of me remember what they were.

That's still a thing? I guess some phrases just won't die ... oooppps, sorry Personally I don't have a lot of people other than real world friends on my FB so I don't have to read that kind of nonsense. I wonder if it's on Twitter? I don't go to my account very often.

I only tweet when I want to share the sites that I use to give to charities like those on the greater good dot com website @VivaLaDani13 but as far as reading what those tweeten twits write, I don't think so.

@rebelann Yes ma'am. Still a thing. LOL! ok that was funny though! Me either really. I just read what other people say sometimes but I don't join in unless it's something I'm passionate about. Otherwise I leave well enough alone. I have no doubt it would be on Twitter too. I used to have an account many years ago but got bored with it.

@rebelann LOL! Yeah there's just a lot of things that people talk about that just doesn't interest me. I'd rather hear what my family and friends are up to than strangers. But all jokes aside, that's really sweet of you to help out with charities.

The allusion to something being so funny that it kills has been around a long time. Julius Caesar is reported to have responded to one of his friend Brutus' jokes by saying, "Dude, you just slay me." Of course, Jules said it in Latin, and Brutus really did, later. Enough about that. I agree "bae" is annoying, especially considering it is the Danish word for poop.

@DWDavis Yeah I know lol I've heard the whole "I'm dying laughing" or like ALF "Ah you kill me!" LOL yes! I read about that! Too funny!

@DWDavis Ewwwwwww! Thanks now I will be hearing/reading "poop" instead of "bae" whenever couples talk to each other. On second thought, I wouldn't mind this on some couples

@Daljinder haha I remember having moments like that. I haven't done that sort of laugh in so long. Like I have had it a little but nothing like that pain in the stomach, sore cheeks from smiling, rolling on the floor, can't breath type of laughing.

That annoys me too. They just don't grasp what 'llterally' means. I don't go on YouTube or any other sites much, so have no idea what 'bae' is.

I just don't like that every other word coming out of some young folks' mouths is a swear word. I don't appreciate going to the store and hearing people talk on their phones out loud as it they do as it is . . . and then to hear f this, and f that, and sh and b and all that stuff just spewing away as if no one else can hear them. I'm no , I will swear every now and then , but at least I know when it's appropriate and when it isn't. I will just literally die if I hear any more swearing .

@much2say I know what you mean! I'm not liking how the younin's speak either. It's irritating and sometimes I have no idea what is even being said. Not that I'm eavesdropping. I don't even need to with how loud they can sound!

I had something more serious in mind when I read the title. Anyway, I'm glad that it's not that. What do I know? Maybe people dying of laughter is more common than previously thought. And perhaps people know how to perform CPR on themselves so they came back to life.

Oh, figures of speech. It's the abuse of the word "literally", as long as Literally itself doesn't report the abuse to the authorities, sad reality is that we must deal with it. I saw bae several times on Facebook, I've now found out it literally means poop in Danish. Hmm, awesome.
