What The Brain Thinks…

Amazing! This picture is what we call a “sensory homunculus” …an image of how our brain SEES us when we use our senses. The human areas most sensitive are the mouth and tongue, the hands and the feet. Hence, in the picture these features are really exaggerated …and definitely out of proportion! This is what you’ll look like if your body parts were in proportion to your brain activity concerned with sensory activity and perception. Which explains why babies put things in their mouth to help better understand the objects around them. Why women hands are more sensitive than men’s hands because more nerves are more concentrated in a smaller hands. Which explains why when we are bare feet, we get a better feel and a better balance to stand up right. Can you give me your thoughts on the following areas? 1. What was your first impression when you saw this picture? 2. Now, having read what it means, what are your thoughts? 3. And lastly, which do you think the brain value the most…beauty or (function) sensitivity? Why? Credited: Picture of “sensory homunculus”, taken from the internet in the public domain.

Only a baby could perceive or would perceive as in that photo, but once the babies mother begins to teach them they loose that perception.

Actually, our brain see us like this...a mass of nerves, neuron , sensitivity and actions. The area of the human body exaggerated is corresponding to the brain's acclivity and response to stimuli we place on it. This is an actual stimulation of what the brain see... The distortion is not delusional (so it cannot be untaught as for a baby) ...it is what 'is'.
