Drinking my dose of HFCS for the day.

HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) I don't drink things with HFCS in it, and I try to avoid any foods that might have it as well. However, I was thirsty for something other than water and so when we ordered pizza (of which I eat none of), I ordered a small bottle of Minute Maid Pink Lemonade. I love the taste of this stuff, but think they surely could have used sugar instead. Makes me wonder because smaller companies (less known) use sugar in their sodas and charge just a little extra for it. Well known companies that surely have the money to spend on using sugar instead, don't. Greed, corporate corporate Greed. Wish HFCS was outright banned here in the US but it's not so....

I am having Dr.Pepper and maple bars for breakfast. Yes, Minute Maid Pink Lemonade is good. We used to drink a lot of it. I make my own now. If corn syrup was banned what would they use corn for besides chips of course.

@ScribbledAdNauseum .....Yes, they use it for a lot of things now. I can't stand hummus.

I am sure they'd find something to use corn for. I mean, they mashed garbanzo beans up and called it hummus, they might just do the same with corn. (which doesn't sound appetizing in the least)

@celticeagle I'm not a fan either. I don't get the appeal of it.

I don't like to drink water. I drink this calorie free stuff from Walmart that is similar to the Sparkling Ice brand. No corn syrup, no sugar, no calories.. it's not bad. I can't remember the last time I had soda..

@ScribbledAdNauseum I drink a lot of coffee or coffee flavored drinks. The coffee drink I go for most has sugar, but no HFCS

I like the sparkling ice stuff too sometimes. I just have gotten used to drinking ice water again. I usually have a lemon in it if I go to a restaurant. The only time I drink something really sugary is coffee or Horchata (a mexican "soda")

The reason most of the big beverage companies like HFCS is because it actually makes you more hungry the more you drink so your more likely to down some of the chips or snacks from their sister companies, or order more fries or another order of chicken wings at one of their restaurants.

Really? I wasn't aware of that but sadly it makes sense.

HFCS, artificial colors, all of that should be gone. Did you know many of these items are banned in other countries?

Yes, I was aware of that. I used to buy sodas from a website online (I can't remember the name off hand but they are based in Texas). I don't anymore because I just don't have the money for it. THese sodas were made with sugar and not HFCS
