All discussions are in both categories. The top spots are chosen a) for Top by number of 'likes' in the past 24 hours and b) Hot by number of responses in the last 24 hours

I guess number of response. And views and likes? I don't know. But most on those top rated has a lot of response si maybe that's it. God bless.

It has nothing to do with being a senior or a new member at all. Maybe those who are here longer have learnt what topics to post to get a discussion going.

@sans224 Refresh the lists frequently and you will see that there are many changes, depending on which posts are busier than others. The lists are updated regulalry like the earnings.

I am not sure. I thought it had something to do with most responses, but then you see some with fewer answers so that is not always it.
