We are at #8 in my Favorite "Party" Songs, and that distinction belongs to a song by the group that was sometimes called "The band that made hip hop safe for white kids:" "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)" by the Beastie Boys, who are making their first appearance on one of my music countdowns.
The Beastie Boys were a trio consisting of Mike "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "MCA" Yauch, and Adam "Ad Rock" Horovitz. Beginning as a punk band, the Beastie's formed in New York City in 1980. They are, according to Billboard Magazine, the biggest selling hip hop group ever, and have sold more than 50 million records worldwide. They released seven Platinum or better albums, and are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the third rap group to earn that distinction.
From their 1986 debut, License to Ill (the first hip hop album to hit #1 on the Billboard 200, selling 10 million copies,) "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party,)" was released as a single in 11987.The song performed admirably, reaching #7 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
(Fun Fact: Slayer's Kerry King performed the song's guitar solo.)
After it was announced that Adam Yauch had cancer, Coldplay performed a live piano version (the Beastie's were supposed to be the opening act.) They performed it again after Yauch's death in 2012.
R.I.P., MCA, thank you for the groovy music.

Ironically, they claimed it was actually a knock at the party boy crowd.

@teamfreak16 I do remember hearing something like that. Good job of clarifying that.

I certainly not into rap or hip hop but couldn't resist the Beasties. After all that Br*ss Monkey is one funky monkey! This dumb system won't post the song title!

Isn't it though? Definitely a classic. It even gets played on the Classic Rock station the tile guy listened to when he was here.
