Spaghetti that was very sweet

I bought this pre mixed spaghetti sauce , made in the Philippines and used it as a sauce over the spaghetti when I was pressed with time to cook from scratch. I just added minced beef. I was disappointed with the taste, it was very sweet, it's more like a dessert dish. I had to adjust it by neitralizing the sweetness, adding more tomato paste, it still didn't get the taste that we were used to. I'm used to cooking sauces from scratch, I'm afraid that I won't be using this sauce again. I offered to give the spare sauce I bought to my friend. I would rather buy ready made sauces that are made by Italians, readily available in our supermarkets. Do you buy ready made sauces or do you make your own sauce?

I make my own sauce but unfortunately my grandchildren prefer the Filipino style which is sweet. I blame jollibee for this.

I did like jollibee spaghetti before, but I've cut down on sugar and order palabok instead.

I buy nothing ready made, we have so many quick sauces for the spaghetti in Italy, it takes five minutes to prepare them and they are a lot better.

@vickyrose Italians do not use the Bolognese for the spaghetti, never for durum wheat pasta, usually only for egg noodles. My grandmother was born in Bologna.

@LadyDuck what is your favourite spaghetti sauce? I once dined in an Italian restaurant, their sauce was quite sour..egg noodles for bolognese... will have to check if I can buy the egg noodles.

I would like to learn how to make a better bolognaise sauce. I prefer making my own.

Well, ready to cook sauces is practical... and I like the sweet spaghetti too.

The famous tomato ketchup is what I use and it has been in the market for several years now. Maggie is now coming up with innovations which I have yet to try out.

I have never had a sweet spaghetti sauce... don't think that I would have cared for that either!!
