Then naming of cats is a difficult matter...

yes, I'm quoting Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Elliot.
Still, its an apt subject, that has been covered here before.
Still, I thought I'd tell a few stories of some of the newer cats names, and how they got them.
Daisy is just turning 7 now. When I found her, she had her cat instincts well established for a 6-7 week old kitten.
When I brought her home, I actually took her by the vet's first for the snap test. Even so I didn't let her run loose until we got the "all clear" about FeLuk and FIV.
So, when she first saw the big cats, and even our smallest cat was bigger than she was then, she was fearless. Booboo, our biggest cat, came to check her out and she went off on him.
That's when the roomie decided to name her after Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies, who's name is Daisy Moses, cause she was so spunky.
Sparky is our youngest boy. He's about 6 months younger and twice the size of Daisy. He got his name because he was discovered in the engine of a car. The owner of the car was a neighbor of some friends of the roomies. In fact, the same people we got Nef and Tuti (RIP) from. We bandied about car parts to name him after, but didn't want to name him "Crank Shaft" for some reason. We ended up with "Spark Plug" but we always have called him Sparky.
Kismet came almost a year later. She was 3 weeks old, but only weighed a half a pound - or was the weight of a 2 week old. I knew she was older than 2 weeks and less than 4 when we got her, but the vet confirmed it the next day when I took her to the vet. The roomie had told me a day or so before that Kismet would be a good name for a girl cat. When I saw her, I suspected she was a girl, but I wasn't sure until the vet again confirmed it.
Just so you know, I've forbidden the roomie to think of any more names, or at least say them aloud, for cats. The last 5 times she's done so, we've ended up with the right sex and number of cats...
Finally, there is Heidi.
Heidi got her name because she climbed a screen door when she was left alone for a few minutes because she didn't want to be left alone.
She's still apt to climb things, as well as run around the house like a crazy cat.
Daisy and Heidi will both jump into our arms. Rygel started doing it, and now Timus does it, but he's the only one who learned retroactively. The other cats came in and saw Rygel and Timus and Oliver (RIP) doing it and started doing it too.
The picture is of Daisy. She's nearly grown in the picture. She's still a small cat, just a tad bigger than our smallest cat, Flower. And she's really never met a stranger. A friend came up from Houston and Daisy jumped into her arm, climbed onto her shoulder and purred in her ear..

Squirrel got her name because she loved to watch the squirrels out the back window. She was also a bit squirrely, being part Siamese.
Both Sk oochie and Harmony came as adults and so were already named.
Mona got her name from The Cat Stevens 1970 album Mona Bone Jakon.
A friend named his cat Daisy because she was white.
Another friend named a cat Maggie, not realizing he's a boy cat. (I call him Mags.)

@BarBaraPrz That's odd about the name. We got Mo already named Mo, but Diva came with the name Patches. Since we had previously taken in 2 other Patches, we picked out a new name for her.

You have some interesting names for your pets. I had a hard time naming my cat but then it came to me. The name the family gave her was not a good fit so I changed it. I gave her the name Sophie. She looks like a Sophie to me.
