My daughter signed up a few weeks back for a free cell phone from qlink wireless. It has 350 minutes a month, no limit texting and you just have to be sure to use it at least one time each month. Hopefully we will have this on hand if our cable goes down and we need a phone. I am so relieved. I just hate it so much when the internet goes out and we have to find a way to call cable. It's a nice little phone. For low income, SSI recipients, etc.

I think so. We sure don't need another bill.

@infatuatedbby ......Yes, we lucked out. Just need it mostly for ER situations. She plays some games on it too.

Free sure is good. I think it is enough minutes and stuff. She and I aren't social butterflies or anything.

@celticeagle The original purpose of these phones was to assure that even those with low income would be able to contact doctors, schools, etc. She will probably have plenty to meet her needs.

This is a nice purchase. I think it is important for a child to have a normal phone so that we can call them when it is necessary. I feel very nervous if I can't contact my child when he is outside alone. After all, he is 12 years old and I am worried about the accidents.

It will so nice now. Unless we run out of minutes but we shouldn't.

Very nice! I'd call the land line on the first of the month, let it sit one minute, and then hang up. boom, you are covered, lol

The land line? That would be interesting.
