As I have mentioned before I really like the actor Sam Elliott. He mostly has acted in western movies. This evening we watched the movie "The Desperate Trail" when Sam portrayed a marshall where his son was married to a young, pretty woman and he had a bad habit of physically abusing her. Finally she just could not take it anymore she shot and killed me. The marshall went after her and was going to hang her. He caught her and she escaped from him. During trying to capture her he even killed some of his own deputies and posssee members. For the first time I did not like Sam (or the character he portrayed)

@dfollin Even if you like Westerns, you'd think they'd need a change occasionally.

I have seen this. Another solid western for Sam. He and Tom Selleck kept the western genre alive for a time.

Was it "Shadow Riders" ? I have seen this movie on TV and I also had the DVD which I need to get again, because it was lost. It is a really good movie.

He is perfect in all movies that he does. He played the part in this movie perfectly. I couldn't expect less. But the character was a jerk.
