I've been hearing about the Cow Parade of life-size cow sculptures created by artists to be auctioned off for charity. Evidently, this is an international event. Local artists are sponsored by local businesses and the cows they design are displayed in prominent places around town. I had read that they were now in my county, but I never had seen any until today. The photo shows you one of them -- a Steam Punk Cow. Does or did your town participate in the cow parade? Have you seen any of these cow sculptures around your city?

I haven't seen cows but in Vermont there were hundreds of fancy painted deer around and in Saratoga NY, I enjoyed the beautiful and colorful horses..And my town is very small, there are no sculptures around and no cows.

Those painted deer must have been quite a sight. I'll bet the horses were also beautiful. I'm noticing more and more sculpture in public places now.

Today I photographed some more I found. This time I looked up where they were supposed to be, so it was easier to find them. Two weren't where they were supposed to be, but the businesses were closed and they may have put them inside. I don't see how, since they are so heavy.

I don't think this has happened here in Manila. We have places that have cow parades but nothing like this.

We do not have any such culture here in India and I doubt if any Indian artist has joined that international event.

I believe in India cows have more status than they do in some other parts of the world. Are they not considered sacred?

@bagarad Some believe in the cow and they are not allowed to be slaughtered. Can imagine the plight of old cows with all old age ailments

We had a heap of these in south-west Western Australia a few years ago. Ours have been auctioned off but occasionally you see one here and there.

Maybe no one wanted those or the businesses that displayed them got attached to them and bought them.

No cow sculptures on the loose in LA that I know of. That is one colorful cow.

I would think that LA would have them. I don't think it's just for agricultural areas.

I saw all the cows in our country pictured online, and some of them are beautiful. If it would stop raining I'd try to see them all.

No cow parade here that I'm aware of. Our local community has painted canoes. I'll try to remember to stop at take a photograph next time I pass one.

Do that. Are the canoes in public places so everyone can enjoy them?
