This refers to a song by Ray Charles “What’d I Say”. Charles came up with this song on the road and people were already wild about it before it was even recorded. Finally he got into the Atlantic Record studios in New York City and recorded the song on February 18, 1959. The song became a hit both with live audiences and with record-buyers. It became a number one R&H hit for Charles in 1959 and also got on the pop charts and became his first crossover hit.
