Attention Londoners!

In my daily reading this morning, I came across some information about the Great Fire of London that happened in 1666. I wonder how many persons who live in London now, are familiar with what actually happened? It must have been quite a huge disaster because about half of the population of London was left without a place to live. Eighty-nine churches were destroyed, including St. Paul’s Cathedral. It was said that the fire began at a bakery in Pudding Lane when unextinguished ashes sparked the fire that spread quickly and lasted for five days. The only GOOD thing that came of this disaster, it was revealed, was that it killed off most of the rats and fleas that carried the plague known as the Black Death. What do you know about the Great Fire of London?

I've read quite a bit about this from time to time. It must have been really devastating at the time as they've very little chance of fighting it in any useful way.
