Late dinner after a long day..

Or no dinner at all? I had a long day and my meal has just been prepared. I cooked spaghetti bolognaise, it was supposed to be for dinner but it's past midnight and now I am thinking that I should skip the meal at this time. I will go to bed soon and it's not good to sleep on a full stomach. There is an extra portion for lunch so tomorrow's meal is also prepped now. Would you skip the late-night eating if you didn't have a proper dinner? Or you would eat a smaller portion even before sleep?

I'd probably skip a meal but it would depend on how hungry I was.

I was hungry enough to eat a full meal! But I managed to get some self control and eat a light snack. Sometimes the late-eating can cause bad quality of sleep, have you ever experienced that?

@JudyEv I was reading that it has to be at least 3 hours after a big dinner. I can't always wait for 3 hours before sleeping but having two hours between dinner and sleep is achievable.

@besweet Yes, that is very true. They say you shouldn't go to bed on a full stomach.

Usually if its too late and I am not hungry, I will skip it. If I am hungry, then no choice to eat but I don't sleep immediately after.

@besweet Yes eating light would be a better alternative and for our stomach too :)

@infatuatedbby I am reading some articles saying that we shouldn't lie down for at least three hours after eating a large meal. I am glad I skipped that meal!

I was hungry and my stomach wouldn't let me sleep. I ate a fruit and yogurt snack eventually. Sleeping with a full stomach can cause bad quality of sleep.

I would probably only have toast. Better to have a little something to get rid of the hungries.

@besweet the acids from the fruit would cause my stomach to be upset. Toast seems to settle better.

Toast would be a great idea, I didn't think about it. I have some fruit with yogurt. Choosing a light dinner was better eventually!

@ElusiveButterfly I didn't have any issues with fruit but it's always best to eat food that is easy on the stomach for dinner. Leaving it empty is not good either.

Yes, I think it's not so nice to sleep on a full stomach. Perhaps I'd eat a small portion if the meal is ready. I changed my habit to have simple dinner in these few years. Sometimes I'd just eat one or two slices of bread and have a cup of hot chocolate, unless I am very hungry or there is leftover food from lunch. If I am hungry in the late night, I might just eat some biscuits.

I was looking forward for my homecooked meal but it would just be trouble to eat so late at night. I fooled my stomach with some fruits and yogurt. Biscuits are a good idea but you can never have just one!

I usually eat my biggest meal at lunch and sleep after a small meal.

This is the ideal plan for the meals during the day. Having a good breakfast also helps. However I usually have small lunch because if I eat a lot at work, I will feel sleepy afterwards.

If I was hungry I'd eat, but not a big dinner. Just a nibble. :)

I stored the food in the fridge and I had an apple with yogurt for late-dinner. I was sad though because it seemed so tasty!

@Poppylicious I know! I was afraid that I could lose my sleep. A full stomach is risky for bad sleep and it has happened to me before.

@besweet Ah, but it was something to look forward to. That makes it all the sweeter!

If things get crazy busy I am more likely to just grab a bowl of cereal and call it good.

It depends how hungry I was. Lol. I don't like eating late but it happens at times.

I could have had a snack earlier in the night but I am stubborn and I wanted to have a proper dinner! Then I thought about the calories and changed my mind, I decided to eat fruit and yogurt which is much lighter and stored the food for today.

We don't eat large meals for dinner, so it would not matter so much. Some fruit might be enough if it was really late.

Yes fruit is the best idea for eating late. Or maybe a light salad would be nice if it was already prepared.

I would probably just have biscuits and water/tea. I'm not comfortable sleeping with a full stomach.
