Black rice and pineapple: Have you had this?

We enjoy eating a lot of raw foods, such as pineapples. Recently we tried adding pineapple slices to our black rice. It was delicious. Some don't like rice of any sort, so black rice and pineapple together would not be their choice. If you do eat black rice, try it with pineapple and see what you think. Do you mix fruit of any sort with rice?

I don't think I would like to mix rice with fruits. But I prefer the brown rice from the other types. And pineapple is one of my favorite fruits. Enjoy your snack!

@besweet We found this in a grocery store. Some have ordered it online. It has a nutty taste and everyone likes it.

I wasn't aware of rice being black. I never heard of it. Is it healthier than white or brown rice?

@PatZAnthony I notice Amazon doesn't have to bad of prices when it comes to buying black rice. I will have to try buying it through Amazon if I can't find it locally.

Hello @rusty2rusty We know it is healthier so b/c it is not as processed. We all know white rice has almost nothing in it that adds to our health, but it does hold other foods together *.* Read on wikipedia it has more antioxidants than blueberries. Black rice is expensive compared to white rice.

@BelleStarr Yes, my g'mother would not consider using anything other than white rice for that, so we all follow her lead. We are looking forward to trying the red rice this weekend just to see what the big deal is there.

@ridingbet We don't use animal products, so are sometimes looking for new ways to enjoy rice, grains, etc. The black rice was so enjoyable, we probably won't buy white rice again soon.

@PatZAnthony we can eat the white rice and banana , as the fruit can already be a viand.especially when it is poured with a little of the oil from a fried meat and sprinkled with salt

I only have rice on rare occasions. Never tried black rice. I wonder if my daughter has tried it. She is a foodie. Love pineapple, but can't have too much because of the acidity.

Did you know the acidity changes in pineapple according to how ripe it is @ElusiveButterfly

Since pineapple helps to digest other foods, there may be some benefits in combining rice and pineapple. Since tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchinis are also fruits, they would combine nicely with rice. Some lemon juice on rice might be nice also. One can try and see if they like it and how it works in their bodies. Personally, I'll only have rice on occasion, since I find that eating fruits and vegetable by themselves works well in my body. I always think, that the ideal life would be the Garden of Eden and so I try to eat as if I'm living there.

@PatZAnthony Yes, for now we can only imagine. Since we are not living in the Garden of Eden, enjoy whatever works well with your body. By the way, I had some rice for supper last night. Yummy!

We like to eat what would have been in the Garden of Eden (or at least what we are guessing was there) also. Guessing too that rice was not there! Rice is used as a side with the pineapple also being a side. Because don't use animal products, we find some things, like the black rice, a little different. We are going to use red rice this weekend when we have pineapples and bananas. Weird, but we think it will work.

Everyone here enjoys pineapple, so it was an easy side dish for us. We will probably use red and yellow peppers once the garden begins to produce those again.

@allknowing Black rice takes a bit longer than white, but it has more nutrients. It is pricier too. We put it in the rice cooker and just hoped for the best.

@PatZAnthony Ah okay, Ms. Pat. There's a purple rice variety in our country which is sticky and it's good eaten with hot chocolate poured over it :) They call it "puto" in our local dialect.
