Before the days of Home Depot and Lowes, there was the smaller hardware store, bigger than the old time ones, but not the mega places either. I used to have one just down the street from my house. They sold some of the most unique parts (and stuff that lasted longer, too) at a ,ugh cheaper price. The people who worked there always were helpful and actually knew what they were doing. Best part was the free popcorn at the entrance. Sadly, they closed for good in 1993, and a Savers thrift store took its place in 1996 I ended up working there in that building in 1998.

I know right !? Especially when that good store is the only place to get durable goods that last through a nuclear winter...
