Tripping at Home - When it comes to beauty, "When you have it, you flaunt it." When it comes to a peppy little battery-motored mobility scooter, when you have one, you ride it, and ride it, and ride it. This time around I went in the opposite direction of the first trip I made in this countryside development. (But I carried a couple of the doughnuts purchased during that first trip around the area.) As would be expected, there were some new views to see and some new bumps in the pathways to roll over. I made some photos along the road - the recreation center from across the main roadway, a curvy pathway evidently constructed for use by those who like to jog for exercise, and, then, sort of as an afterthought, a couple of pix of the scooter itself - as it is right now before my grandson-in-law and I renovate it into a real hot-rod of a scooter as we plan on doing. That looks a lovely area to drive in. Don't wreck your scooter trying to turn it into a hot-rod.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - Back a few years I might have had thoughts about how to increase the scooter speed up to regular automobile "in-town" road speed, but now, in my dotage, I cherish each new day without smashing my body in a spectacular scooter crash. My grandson-in-law and I have big plans for that little scooter. I am thinking strongly about setting up an overhead canopy composed of solar energy paneling - keep the rain off my head and maintain the driving battery charge (no need to plug into the mains). A big searchlight up in front and both taillights and turn signal lights, a rear-view mirror, a walking cane holder, a trailer hitch, and a jazzy paint job. Those might suffice - early on, anyway. -Gus-

@Ceerios That sounds a great start! In one senior village I know of they have scooter races very occasionally. Do you have a little trailer to hook on the back yet?

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - No trailer as yet, but I will have to build one especially for the scooter in that a ready-made small trailer might be hard to make a decent connect. -Gus-

A neighbor has a scooter like this, but it is not very adapted to the part of the city where I live : pavements are high and narrow, and the streets are cobbled... It seems to be perfect on your place though.

@topffer - Hi "Digger" - Just a thought (?) about such scooter difficulties... Maybe a manufacturer might consider making scooters with "tank-like" treads for use on rough pathways (cobblestones, etc) instead of regular round tires. -Gus-

@Ceerios The wheels are not high enough to climb on sidewalks, but a "crawler scooter" would do it

@topffer - Howdy again, "Digger" - Here is a link to a website and videos that you will find interesting - mobility scooters with tank treads, etc. -Gus-.
The idea of the skateboard dates back to the time when kids used to build rafts and used logs to float across the streams for fun. Similarly, during the winters

I have never seen anyone ride around on one of those except in Walmart. My neighbor rides around town on his jazzy chair.

@shaggin - Tripping on a scooter is lots of fun (except on stormy days, of course). Scooter people are good to go if the area has sidewalks which are complete with ramps at the intersections. Motor car traffic can be a bit of a problem, however. One nice thing about "touring" on a scooter, it is like riding around on a bicycle or motorcycle - the view is 360-degrees back and forth, up and down, and sideways, too. -Gus-
