Gale force winds hitting UK

It's horrible here in South West England. I really thought my slip of a granddaughter would be blown away in the high winds we have here at the moment. We were more or less blown to school this morning. Apparently it's being named Storm Doris and gusts of 80-100 mph are hitting the UK from across the Atlantic. My fence is swaying in a worrying fashion :( What's it like where you are?

We had this kind of storm a few weeks ago, and by luck the roof of my house and the trees in the garden are still there. They can be really frightening. I hope for you that it will end soon. It is cloudy in my place with a 10 mph wind from SW.

Those kinds of winds are terrifying. They also make it difficult to breath ... or maybe that is just me, but other family members also have difficulty breathing in high winds.

I don't have difficulty breathing but they are so horrible when walking against them. My face stings and my eyes run. The cold goes right through your clothes too.

@sprite1950 Oh yes, the cold definitely goes right through your clothes, even when you try to put on layers. For me, the wind, especially when it is cold, seems to take my breath away as well. That could be from my asthma, though, which would also explain why it has the same effect on other members of my family.

Up North it has taken tiles of the Roofs in some houses. Here its not so bad at the moment but it has been very bad. Fence is tilting a bit on one side.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes it's kind of scary to think she got out of bed that morning not knowing it was her last day. Life can end so suddenly.

@lovinangelsinstead21 It's quiet here now so I'm hoping we've seen the worst of it.

We have had this mini tornado visiting July of 2015. It came so quickly and that too localised.

@allknowing Natural disasters cause so much damage and cost money we don't want to pay out.

@allknowing Today it is completely different, there is no wind and it is bright and sunny. Apart from the debris lying everywhere you wouldn't know we had it. I hope your tornado didn't cause too much damage.

It's stormy and windy there. We have fine weather here not too hot, not too cold

I wish I was where you are. Could really do with some warmth. It's been a colder winter than normal here in the UK.

Tomorrow is supposed to be better so I will be trying to mend my fence! The winds are back for the weekend though. How can that be?

@sprite1950 It rained a lot during the night, now the sky is partly cloudy, but the temperature is warm, too warm for the season.

@LadyDuck It's beautiful here today. I can't believe the change so I must get my partner to come and help me fix the fence :)

A Wolverhampton Woman was killed when some brick fell off a building where she was passing by.

It is worrying and expected to last a few days. I've just noticed the roofing cover has been blown off my shed now. Never mind spring is on its way!
