Places I miss that have gone by the wayside #3:actual indoor malls

The 1980s, 1990s. Lazy days of summer and Saturdays just hanging out at the mall. The picture below, is one of the 2 malls down by my house I used to hang out at. Fashion Place Mall, Murray Utah. This mall still exists, just not in this form anymore. In the last 10 years, this mall has been remodeled to more of an outdoor mall, complete with a cheesecake factory, apple store, and a Lego store. Granted those places are awesome, but I miss the days when you could walk the T shaped enclosure, and hit waldenbooks, sears, hallmark, tinderbox, claires, suncoast and musicland, and my 2 favorites, Spencer gifts and Hot Topic. I guess I shouldn't complain though, at least we still have a few malls left as malls are shuttering nationwide. Those were the days!

Nothing stays the same for long - neither the good nor the bad - but sometimes the bad seems longer. :)

It seems like things are always changing, some good, some not so good. I've observed though that change is at a more rapid faster rate....

We are fortunate in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Greenwood Park Mall, in Greenwood, just south of Indianapolis, is doing well. There's a mall downtown that was nice, the Circle Center Mall. I heard on the news that several of the anchor stores will be leaving soon.

Thats good you still have one by you that's thriving, so far in Utah, we have only had a couple that have closed and torn down for new development. But when anchor stores leave, something creative, like a trader joes or a local grocery takes its place.

Many of these places have closed here too. Guess we won't see more being built as most have lost interest in spending what they don't have.
