It's weekend and wherever I go I find kids sitting before TV watching cartoon animations. Their parents tell me they spend hours watching cartoons. Even during their meals their eyes are fixed on the TV screen showing cartoons. Doctors are telling that this craze for cartoons is affecting their health. How is it there with kids in your country?

I love watching cartoons when I was a kid. Until now I love watching cartoons. Is it bad for kids?

No, it is not bad in itself. It is the excess that is harming.

I don't think Saturday morning cartoons are a problem.....constant, everyday, all day television is a much bigger problem.

Excesses should be curbed, anything done excessively is not normal anymore

Same thing... But in our case, we encourage them to watch cartoons especially the educational ones. My nephew was 1 1/2 that time when we discovered something unique about him. We thought his development is jus a bit slow because up until that time he is not speaking even baby talk or respond to what we say in our own language. But one time, I made a joke by speaking to him in english. To our surprise, he is blabbering out contuniously as if he's telling something. We thought it was just a fluke, so we did it again and again and again. Then we realized he learned to speak or shall I say understand english because of the show Barney... So we let them watch as much as possible because it is actually helping them. As long as it's educational...

Our kids used to watch TV quite a bit but I don't know about kids nowadays. I'm sure a lot watch cartoons as long as they're allowed.

Same story here in my country, I think the parents love it that way, they used cartoon to get their children busy which is not too ideal. Focus should be on the children growth, I mean physically and mentally not gluing to cartoon.

Same problem every country every where.

It is the same here in my country too. Now not only television even they tend to play online games on mobile too. Parents too are adding to it by giving the mobiles to them to keep them engaged as they are involved there. Parents find they can relax on a weekend if they let them watch television or give them mobile or consoles and this leads to addiction and even when they want them to stop children find it difficult. Making things difficult for the whole family. Parents must be careful of this tendency. And children should be taught to use gadgets for what they and nothing more.
