An Extremely Westernized Filipino Grandpa!

A 65-year-old grandpa, who arrived in Canada from the Philippines 7 years ago, is so westernized. He adopted western lifestyle to the highest level. Keep on reading!
He used to wear just shirts, ordinary pair of pants, and pair of rubber shoes back in the Philippines; now he goes out sporting suit and pair of shiny pair of leather shoes, he bought from Sears not Walmart. He speaks English all the time, trying hard to eliminate his distinct Filipino accent and pronunciation. He overdoes it that sometimes we, his Filipino friends, don't fully understand and have to decipher what he is talking about.
One night we attended an all-Filipino party; while all of us spoke tagalog, he kept blabbering in English. And he is a stammering bore (keeps talking). And yesterday we noticed he is sporting an earring not just on one ear but on both.
However, there is one Eastern value that he still keeps that we, his barkada (close friends), extremely appreciate and keeps us listening to his stories about his "escapades" back in the Philippines - he is very generous. On Saturdays we used to assemble in a mall's food court to talk about anything under the sun. He orders and pays foods, coffee, and drinks for all us, his barkada, while he talks endlessly about his life. Of course, though bored, we have to listen. O, I almost forgot . . his name is Policarpio. His old nickname was Apiong. His new nickname is Carps.
I am not that westernized yet or will ever!

@shaggin . . Everyone looks wonderful sporting suits . . but I don't wear suits all the time. I put on my denim pants and pair of rubber shoes going to the mall or to buy groceries. . . . not suits . .

@antonbunot you tagged my name wrong... But sounds to me like you are dressed more appropriately for the mall then your grandfather.

Well he is still young and good for him that he enjoys life. My parents were immigrants who became US citizens back in the 1960s. They adopted American ways and also kept their Latvian ways.

@antonbunot okay will change it to not too young
Writing is my passion yet in my almost 14 years of career, I am in the financing industry. So I felt that writing may be a little too late when I started doing so in Bubblews. Thus, the name. But I know there is no age limit in writing. Just love the name now.

I believe in taking in what makes me a better person. Even my dog Preiti teaches me a few things specially not to raise my voice as she will just give out a whimper if she wants something.

@antonbunot Why wouldyou want other immigrands what you don´t want in your grandfather? We have many people from Haiti lately in my country. They desperatly need aplace where they can earn more. But they are slowly lean our language although between them I´m sure they speak creole. Still the immigrants from Haiti will not entirelly mix with out population for a couple of generations as they are charcoal black.

I kept on laughing while you describe him.
But oh he is generous. Well, he should be because no one will tolerate his ME stories all the time. And gosh , he has now changed his name Apiong to Carps!
I have to stifle my laughter or else the employees outside of our room that I share with our boss (who is not always here) would think I am already having dementia.
By the way, you name Julito shold also now be called Jules, since you are already in a foreign country.
