SHE CALLED ME SIR.

This evening a call came through on our land line phone and I answered. The young female voice at the other end asked to speak to someone none of us knew so I told her that she had the wrong number. Her reply was "sorry Sir" - then she hung up.
Now I know that my voice is not the soft , melodious kind - but it is certainly not masculine. Perhaps there was a distortion on the line ,or the young lady was simply being mischievous or maybe to her ears - very feminine looking me did sound like a man.
Have you ever been mistaken for the wrong gender because of your voice? or made a similar mistake like that young lady did? What kind of voice do you have? Is it - high, low, booming, shrill, sexy, sultry, soft or ordinary?

I've never been mistaken to be male over the phone, but people have assumed I was Hispanic. I don't have an accent, but when I say Spanish words, I pronounce them precisely correct (like names) - and the other person assumes I must be Hispanic - but I'm not!

Oh dear! Maybe there was just some weird distortion on the line. I have a low, soft voice. It's irritating when you want people to actually listen to you.

I never been mistaken based on my face and voice but my previous id tend to cause confusion. People tend to associate Prinzcy with male. Not to mentioned, I used cat as my image. Maybe it's close to Prince or something. I've using that id almost everywhere and there's almost someone who tend to think I'm a man. Oh well.

I am mistaken here for a man by many users. Wonder what their reasoning is.
I have a voice that is purely feminine (lol)

Maybe she did it on purpose, or was just in a hurry and not thinking?

I think that I have a pretty good voice as far as tone and timbre are concerned. I have auditioned and been hired for a couple of local commercials.

always my friend. i sound like a transgender on the phone, but i also smile when my students accidentally address me as SIR even if they see me. i don't sound lady-like, and i have a loud voice as well, not the sweet voice of a woman.

@Kandae11 hahaha! definitely my friend, i am a woman, but no more female internal reproductive organs, so that would make me a 'bisexual'? hahaha! just kidding
